It's about time all of us stood for something and Jessica's Law gives us a perfect and indisputable cause to take a stand on!
Touched by molestation in our own family, many times, this law rings true to my heart. Many years ago when our family was forever affected by this horrific crime, not very much was being done to protect the innocent. No one talked about molestation. Many of us even thought it was
just a part of growing up", and that almost everyone endured this act of betrayal and violence both physically and emotionally. It was treated as though nothing had happened and no one dared to speak the truth. The very victims were cast out of families as though they themselves were the perpetrators.
Today, things are a changin' and people, the very people who's lives have been irreversibly changed by molestation, are speaking out, getting up and stomping on this crime against humanity.
I personally tip my hat to Mark Lunsford for decidingly marching his campaign right on up to the doors of our federal government. Hooray for such a brave man! Kudos to such a man as Mark who would unabashedly cry out for help in his mission in honor of his daughter, Jessica.
While it is true that good morals and ethics begin in our own homes, still for those who have not been taught those morals and ethics, or for those who willingly sinned against those morals and ethics, government intervention is a required force. For those who will repeatedly crash the lives of innocent children for their own greedy satisfaction, we need a place to forever remove them from society. Statistics prove over and over and redundantly over that these beasts cannot be rehabilitated.
Think about it, if they never lived by the same morals and ethics most of us do to begin with, why would they begin living those principals after getting for themselves a taste of the addiction that satisfies the most evil in their souls? It's just not going to happen.
